The Office (DVD) Review

One of the most refreshing new comedy series on TV, The Office catalogues the inner-workings of a fictional Pennsylvania paper company called Dunder-Mifflin. The name itself alludes to some sort of bureaucratic labyrinth administered by dunderheads, and in reality, it is. Unfortunately, what makes The Office so hilarious is the ability of viewers to relate to the onscreen office culture. The branch office of Dunder-Mifflin viewers are privy to is managed by the politically-incorrect, borderline lunatic Michael Scott (Steve Carell). Using twisted logic to set company policy, worn out clichés as a substitute for leadership, and an endless array of corny group activities to lift employee morale, he creates an office atmosphere that makes the career of Dilbert seem desirable in contrast.

Carell, star of the recent box office hit The 40-Year-Old Virgin, shines in the role of the nutty and eccentric office manager, and his talents are well complimented by Rainn Wilson who plays the part of Michael's butt-kiss, rule-Nazi lackey, Dwight Schrute. Dwight's over-the-top antics conflict with the rest of the office, particularly co-worker Jim Halpert (John Krasinski) whom Dwight would like to fire. A charming unspoken office crush between Jim and Pam Beesley (Jenna Fischer) makes for an interesting and recurring subplot. Both Jim and Pam epitomize the remainder of the cast of Dunder-Mifflin employees who come across as logical, well-reasoned, and normal individuals. Normal people stuck in a bizarre world where idiots like Michael and Dwight preside over their working hours. Similar in theme to the equally funny feature film Office Space, The Office provides us with a much more excitable Bill Lumbergh lording over an army of Peter Gibbons-like worker bees. For creators Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, who first experienced success with the concept in the UK, it's a recipe for pure, unadulterated laughter.

The Office (Season 1) DVD features six hilarious episodes including the season premiere in which a camera crew arrives at Dunder-Mifflin in order to film a documentary. Naturally, Michael tries to portray himself as a brilliant steward of office productivity, while office enemies Jim and Dwight engage in a series of desk battles. Viewers also get a glimpse of the regular flirtations between Jim and Pam. Other notable episodes include "Diversity Day" in which Michael engages in a feeble and half-hearted attempt to shed light on office diversity, while alienating most of his employees in the process, and "Health Care" in which Michael, afraid of bearing bad news, delegates his authority to Dwight who creates an utter fiasco of the company health care plan.

Classic Game Room HD - SILPHEED for Sega CD review

Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of SILPHEED for the Sega CD add-on for the Sega Genesis Megadrive 16-bit video game console. The Mega Drive had a few short lived add-ons like the SegaCD and 32x. Silpheed originally came out years earlier, I had a copy of it for the PC back in the day. This version uses an early polygon graphical system and looks dates, but plays as well as any of the best SHMUPS out today. This is a tremendous SHMUP vertical scrolling space shooter where you pilot the lone spaceship against wave after wave of alien bad guys. Blow them up with a variety of weapons and power ups in this 3D universe created for the Sega in 1993. Rockin' electric music thumps away as you blast those bad guys into space dust! Silpheed may not be one of the best shooters ever made, but it is a sleeper hit that holds up well against today's games because of the well created gameplay and difficulty. Maniac shooters like Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga are better known now, but Silpheed does not disappoint as you can see from the footage. This game should be made into a new 2D shooter with 3-D elements for the PS3, Xbox 360 Live Arcade or Wii. There was a Silpheed released for the PS2 called Silpheed Lost Planet. Of the vast number of DVD copying software available on the market, here are some of the very best ones:

The DVD Cloner II is arguably the best DVD copying software currently on the market. The software is a user's delight, easy to install, uncomplicated and has the ability to produce high quality DVD duplicates. Perhaps the one feature that separates it from the rest of the competing software is that it comes with an integrated CSS decryptor, meaning it can copy DVDs that are copy-protected. Its market price is $39.99.

1Click DVD is a product of LG Software Innovations. As its name suggests, it can copy a DVD movie with a single click. With wonderful customer support and speed, the software is a highly feasible buy. However, unlike the DVD Cloner II, it lacks a CSS decryptor. It has a market price of $59.00.

Clone DVD, a product of DVD X Studios, is another DVD copying software that comes with a CSS decryptor. However, unlike the DVD Cloner II, it cannot copy to CDs and is not very perceptive. On the plus side, it takes just three steps to copy a DVD movie in its entirety - extra footage, menu, etc. It is available in the market for a price of $99.95.

DVD Review - Angels and Demons (2009)

Filmbesprechung: The DaVinci Code war vielleicht eine der größten Enttäuschungen in einem Hollywood-Blockbuster, dass die jüngsten Namen gekommen ist, die in Jahren nach all dem Hype und gleiche Aufregung, die durch die Dan Brown Roman des. Kommend in die auf "Angels & Demons", würde man für skeptisch über die Qualität vergeben werden. Der Film fälltaus den Schienen rund drei Viertel des Weges durch seine Laufzeit. DVD Review - Le Diner De Cons

Wenn Sie habe nur den unglücklichen amerikanischen Remake des 1998 Französisch Komödie "Le Diner de Cons", dann jemand schuldet Ihnen eine Entschuldigung gesehen. Frasier (DVD) Review

Along with Friends and Seinfeld, Kelsey Grammer's Cheers spin-off, Frasier, dominated the prime time television landscape during the 1990's. Grammer plays the role of Dr. Frasier Crane who, fresh off of his divorce from Lilith, moves back to his hometown of Seattle where he lands a gig as a radio psychiatrist. Frasier's father, Marty Crane (John Mahoney), a Seattle cop recently shot in an attempted convenience store robbery is in need of physical therapy. Frasier and his brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce) make an effort to mend their relationship with Marty whose plaid shirts and penchant for sports and beer strikes a dramatic contrast with their wine club, opera house culture. After a little prodding, Marty and his dog Eddie (Moose) move into Frasier's upscale apartment, and Frasier hires Daphne Moon (Jane Leeves), a housekeeper and physical therapist to look after the two cranes.

The entirety of the show takes place in mostly three places - Frasier's radio station where he works with show producer Roz Doyle (Peri Gilpin), Frasier's apartment, and the favorite hangout of Niles and Frasier, Café Nervosa. A witty comedic exploration of the nation's clash of cultures (also illustrated by Frasier's run-ins with sports guy Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe), Frasier stands alone as one of the best-written shows in television history. Not a single episode can be considered a dud.

The Frasier DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the series premiere "The Good Son" in which the title character Dr. Frasier Crane moves back to his home town of Seattle, Washington. Living a comfortable lifestyle with his decorated bachelor pad and high-profile radio show, Frasier gets a rude awakening when his brother Niles points out that their father Marty can no longer live on his own due to a gunshot wound. Reluctantly, Frasier invites Marty to come live with him and the two eventually hire Daphne Moon as a housekeeper/physical therapist... Other notable episodes include "The Crucible" in which Frasier throws a lavish dinner party to celebrate the newest edition to his art collection only to learn from the artist herself that the painting is a forgery, and "Give Him The Chair!" in which Frasier tries to do a favor for Martin by throwing out his favorite chair, but Martin is raving mad, prompting Frasier to search all of Seattle to retrieve the priceless heirloom...

Bridge to Terabithia - A DVD Review

If you haven't had the chance to see this movie, go see it. Rent it. Buy it. Whatever. If you're not familiar with the book or the story, the twist will catch you offguard. The trailer, as I recall, seem to hint at a Narnia-esque story, but it was nothing of such at all.

Terabithia was about the growing pains of Leslie and Jesse, two middle schoolers who developed deep love between each other, and how they coped together with their pre-teen unrests. The story drew you into how their lives changed as soon as they met after encountering the school bullies. The story was told from Jesse's point of view, the talented introvert who's blossoming artistry was in danger of forever getting buried by the burdens of a young man's traditional familial responsibilities. His parents kept telling him to stop daydreaming and, instead, to focus in contributing to the family in practical ways since they had money problems. Jesse was constantly torn between his parents' needs and his growing passion for his art.

Enter Leslie into his life. A new girl in school and his new neighbor who was growing up unconventionally. Her family did not believe in television and many other conventional, perhaps unnecessary, home furnishings. As a result, Leslie used her deep imagination to entertain herself and to deal with adversity such as when being mocked by bullies. She showed Jesse the power of imagination as they explored the woods near their house. It was here that they made up a place they call Terabithia - their place, their magical kingdom complete with mystical warriors protecting them from nearby creatures of mayhem. Jesse succumbed to Leslie's lead and fully embroiled himself in a world that only existed between them.

By this time, I anticipated and hoped that Terabithia would become real and the two would be able to escape their troubles together. I was really pulling for a cheesy happy ending for these two. But something terrible happened. I won't give it out because it's such a big part of story. And it does make you cry. For now, let's finish this review by saying that in the end, our young artist with Leslie's help was able to free his mind and enlighten another with his imagination.

The acting was superb, not just from the leads Josh Hutcherson (Jesse) and AnnaSophia Robb (Leslie), but also from the supporting casts including Zooey Deschannel (Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy) and Robert Patrick (Terminator 2). The movie had plenty of sticky situations typical in middle school. It's a perfect setting on how two people can find each other from among the turmoil and how the right relationship can enrich a life forever.

Dell Studio XPS 13. I like the touch pad, screen is very bright, the slot load DVD player is very cool, keyboard is very nice(including the large backspace), very attractive and light weight. I didn't like how hot it gets. Not a fan of glossy screen. Doesn't seem to be well vented, the battery is difficult to remove, didn't come with the remote, the m1330 comes with a better case, no blue ray option.
